Circle of Jewish Holidays
By Ben Avram

We are delighted to introduce a new KosherEye partner-The Blue and White Gallery, located at 1 Cardo Street in the Old City of Jerusalem. The gallery was established in 1967, when the city was reunited after the six-day-war. It is run by Israeli artist Udi Merioz who is also currently the curator of the Israeli Prime Ministers' Art Collection. Blue and White is the largest exporter of artwork from Israel. To view the online art collection, or for more information, visit blueandwhiteart.com.

Whenever we are in Jerusalem we stop by this art gallery to browse its spectacular collections. We will be featuring their artwork from time to time, and to launch this relationship, Blue and White Gallery is generously offering a giveaway for our readers. The piece we have selected is titled Circle of Jewish Holidays by artist Ben Avram. In this lithograph, the names of all of the Jewish Holidays appear with images representing the major aspects of each holiday. In the center of the piece the artist Ben Avram has painted The Western Wall- depicting that Jerusalem is the center of Jewish life. This circle starts at the Jewish New Year and ends in receiving the Torah

The artist, Ben Avram, was born in Bombay in 1941 and immigrated to Israel in 1956. He set up his first studio in Jerusalem's Meah She'arim. The influence of the surrounding observant Orthodox community, together with Ben Avram's more secular approach, inspired him to create amazing paintings full of Jewish mysticism and symbolism, yet colorful and joyful. Ben Avram's paintings are treasured in collections worldwide. Currently he lives in Jerusalem and has chosen the Blue and White Art Gallery as his sole Judaica distributor.
